The first book to uncover the lesser-known early journalistic career of Rem Koolhaas presents a selection of his writings for the Dutch weekly Haagse Post between 1963 and 1968. It examines how his interviews (with the likes of Le Corbusier, Constant Nieuwenhuys, Gerard Reve, Federico Fellini…)  became essays that exposed power dynamics and cultural shifts. Through first-time English translations and commentary, alongside the original newspaper layouts, it reveals Koolhaas as a keen observer of his time. Rather than viewing this period as a precursor to his architectural career, the collection presents it as a key body of work that emphasises the significance of journalistic storytelling for architecture, not to mention an essential tool for inquiry and critique.
