There Is Fiction in the Space Between

With the exhibition There Is Fiction in the Space Between, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein presented eleven outstanding positions of the international art scene in Berlin, continuing its exhibition series with the recipients of the Berlin Senate work stipends in the visual arts. Using a variety of media, styles and approaches, the artists address current social issues and provide insights into the diverse art production in Berlin.

The title of the exhibition There Is Fiction in the Space Between is a quote taken from Tracy Chapman’s song Telling Stories and refers to the versatile associative spaces that the exhibition uncloses: between viewers and works of art, between studio and exhibition space, between artistic positing and reception, as well as between the involved artistic positions. In a meaningful way, the title can be complemented with the names of the artists: There is fiction in the space between William Engelen, Fehras Publishing Practices, Nina Fischer & Maroan el Sani, Jean-Pascal Flavien, Eva Grubinger, Hanne Lippard, Antonia Low, Dafna Maimon & Ethan Hayes-Chute, Emeka Ogboh, Peles Empire and Sophie Reinhold.

With an introduction by Klaus Lederer and Marius Babias, and texts by Eva-Maria Gillich, Emine Sevgi Özdamar, Michaela Richter and Misal Adnan Yıldız.
