Currency #6

CURRENCY 6 exists at the intersection of art history, culture, fashion and style. It includes contributions from over 25 writers and artists, such as Michel Amet, Paul Mpagi Sepuya, Heinz Peter Knes, Merzedes and Asa Sturm-Lie, critics Barbara Buchmaier and Christine Woditschka and perspectives from notable cultural figures, including Hermine Demoriane, model John Foley and DJ Patrick Vidal.

CURRENCY was founded by Carlier in 2003. Each unique issue appears at irregular intervals and constitutes a document of the editor’s relationships and exchanges with advertisers, artists, designers, independent publishers and writers. The new issue of CURRENCY departs from ‘Daydream of Security’, a text by the late art critic Guy Brett, a friend of Carlier and Demoriane. In his editorial letter, Carlier writes: ‘There are several dead people walking around in this magazine. When we consider the ones we have lost, we also try to remember who we are and what we represent.’ In this sense, the issue is guided by key cultural figures, including artists Eva Hesse and David Medalla.
