STEIERHOFFER, Eszter (ed.)
ZOO-TOPIA. Zoo Architecture as Taxonomics of National Representation
The book accompanied a symposium that explored the role of architecture within zoological gardens, the zoo as a showcase of Modernist architecture and a place of fantasy/escape in the Modern city. The symposium was held in London Zoo as a part of the London Festival of Architecture. The publication was designed to reflect the experience of interpretative systems of zoos and galleries, with no beginning or end, enabling the reader to navigate their way through the content using the inserted map of content. The publication includes texts by John Berger, Zoltán Kékesi, Sándor Weöres, Andreas Spiegl, and Eszter Steierhoffer; as well as work by Yona Friedman, Bahbak Hashemi-Nezhad, Wesley Meuris, Société Réaliste, Ahmet Ögut, and more.
