IKHIDE, Richard Ayodeji
Yiya
Yiya is a publication comprised of selected pages from Richard Ayodeji Ikhide’s sketchbooks. Taking its title from the Yoruba word for ‘drawings’, this never before seen collection of graphite, pen, ink and watercolour drawings and inscriptions shines light on the visual language that forms the bedrock of his practice. The book provides viewers with an entry point into the world in which Ikhide feels most free to record, invent and imagine.
Yiya marks the artist’s solo show with V.O Curations, ‘Future Past’ (11 February - 20 March 2021), and celebrates the rich preparatory content he has produced over the course of the past six years.
