Ways of Worldmaking
Ways of Worldmaking is the first comprehensive monograph on British experimental filmmaker Ben Rivers (b. 1972). In recent years, Rivers has been celebrated as one of the most important experimental filmmakers of his generation. The series of exhibitions—that happened at Camden Arts Centre, London, Kunstverein in Hamburg, The Renaissance Society, Chicago, and La Triennale di Milano—collected in this book explore the diversity and breadth of his work. Often following people who have in some way separated themselves from society, the raw film footage provides Rivers with a starting point for creating oblique narratives imagining alternative existences in marginal worlds. This monograph was edited by Bettina Steinbrügge, and comprises texts by Renee Gladman, Melissa Gronlund, Ed Halter, Andrea Picard, amongst others.
