We are delighted to open this year’s online program with a book and two persons that we love. Artist Nick Mauss will be in conversation with publisher and actor Baptiste Pinteaux about his publication Transmissions, which follows an incredible show about the relations between modernist ballet in New York and the avant-garde, and more broadly, the representation of bodies in film, poetry, painting and the avant-garde. Nick Mauss curated the show in 2018 at the Whitney Museum of American Art. There were dancers! It was live! You could almost touch them, and—no masks on—smell the rythm! Let’s close our eyes, open our ears to the conversation and listen to our bodies, in the hope they will be soon back where they belong: dance floors.
