The Tinklers Charts and Stories
The Tinklers are Charles Brohawn & Chris Mason from Baltimore. They have been writing songs and making books, charts, and paintings in Baltimore since 1979, in kind of a Fluxusy way. This book combines 5 of their publications:
1. The Tinklers History of the World (1981): a scroll folded to make a book – a score for a performance. It lists inventions and discoveries of weapons, food, and clothing from prehistory to the future, through drawings and texts.
2. The Tinklers Songs and Charts (1980): a handmade book containing, well, charts and songs used in performances – the cover actually shows the Tinklers performing at Bread and Roses Collective Coffee House [?].
3. Home by the River (1983): this illustrated tale doesn’t hide anything about comment on fait les bébés, birth, and about growing corn either.
4. Our Childrens’ Childrens’ Worlds (1985): it’s an epic! Well, apparently this book also has its origins in a performance.
5. The Tinklers Encyclopedia (1982): from “Acne” to “Zone Fare”; B is for “Boss” and “Bug”; C links “Caca” to the different meanings of “Capital.” An anarchist, popular, hilarious, precious, approach to knowledge.
! Each cover is different – stamping at chance !
