The Happening of 2020 in NYC

“The day I wrote this piece, it was late in the evening, that time when the lines are blurred with the early morning hours and it was hot outside. In fact, it was hot inside, it was hot everywhere. It was that summer city smoldering hot hot. I remember sitting next to an open window and a fan on full speed and the poem came in what seemed like one song / a muse/ a siren/ possessing me. I knew it was meant to be listened to, not meant for the page as I scribbled it out that night.”
