WEISS, Peter
RIMBAUD: (a fragment)

Rimbaud, on a stool, barefoot, in pants that are too short for him. A wrinkled blouse, unbutonned. Bristly, unkempt hair. A pair of laced boots and other items of clothing on the floor. Off to one side, sitting huddled up, a girl in a long white night-shirt.

Translated by Hunter Bolin, this is the first English appearance of Weiss’ text: 3 short scenes; an appendix with notes, a biography, and a draft for a play (?). Qu’est-ce pour nous, mon cœur… This is “revolutionary art and praxis”!

Cover illustration by Colter Jacobsen – “based on purported photo of Rimbaud taken by Bruno Braquehais at the Place Vendome in May 1871 during the Paris Commune.”
