It appears to be a contradiction in terms. A property is by definition something that if part of, that pertains to something else. It cannot exist independently; it can only be instantiated in or predicated of things. However the description “properties without objects” seems to say exactly that. 

Iulia Nistor is an artist and philosopher whose work engages with questions in the philosophy of mind and language. She is interested in procedures that analyze and challenge concepts, using artistic processes and settings to investigate how perception operates and how the perceived is represented. Her practice examines the conditions that structure thought—such as our capacities for abstraction and intentionality—and the consequences these have for the ways we inhabit and understand the world.

properties without objects brings together a line of inquiry that Nistor has pursued over the past decade through both painting and theoretical propositions: whether the depiction of accidental properties is possible. The publication assembles paintings, notes, and propositions that explore this question.
