time is not a ray but a weather …
In this book, Adrian Nichols brings together a body of text shaped by the friction between feeling and perception, by the irruptions of accident into reflection. Lyrical, philosophical, and scientific topoi intersect with radical (anti-)politics in a form alluding to concrete poetry and the ars poetica, spoken and physical theatre, the musical fantasy and the reference work. Its three parts are interrupted by a drama and flush with blooms of its lexical mycelium. Besides John Cage, it invokes many unconventional thinkers, from Thomas Hobbes and Henry Thoreau to Dorothy Day and from Jalaluddin Rumi to Jean-Luc Godard. [publishers’ note]
