Dear Agnes, 
We write this letter from our peaceful home, an island of tranquility surrounded by a hostile reality. We write to you in the future because as your parents, we cannot reveal everything now—it is too much for a little girl. We hope that when you read this letter, you enjoy a heatlhy, peaceful, prosperous, or at least buoyant time where you calmly work towards fruitful and meaningful goals. But from where we are now, things are not looking so good.
