Dawn of the Swarm
“Dawn of the Swarm” by Merike Estna includes the artist’s works from the last three years, and two new essays by Andrew Berardini and Maria Arusoo.
The book is a rich and colorful insight to Merike Estna’s practise where she is embedding patterns and colour combinations from the crafts and applied arts, vocabularies which have not traditionally been accepted in the visual language of painting. Her work is largely invested in the processes of painting, as a way of approaching the artwork as an integral part of life rather than about life.
“Dawn of the Swarm” is designed by Ott Metusala and published in conjunction with Estna’s solo exhibition at the gallery Bosse&Baum in London, September 20 – November 3, 2018.[publisher's note]
