DEWAR, Daniel; GICQUEL, Grégory
Body of Work
Complex, interwoven, constructed, worn, humorous, sometimes irritating and uncomfortable, supple, often massive. These are just a few ways to describe the work of Daniel Dewar and Grégory Gicquel as a duo after more than 20 years of common practice. This monograph looks back and is at the same time an inventory that shows how the work has changed over more than two decades, how it has grown, and acquired a very special meaning. The idea for this book arose from a conversation with the artists, in preparation for an exhibition in Portikus 2017. In addition, this monograph was made possible in collaboration with the exhibition houses, which dedicated solo exhibitions to the artists in the years 2016, 2017 and 2019.[publisher's note]
