Andrew Sim’s practice draws upon their everyday experience, inflecting various motifs with autobiography to anthropomorphise natural subjects and create new characters which convey their relationship to Queer friendship, culture and identity formation. Sim’s debut publication features a host of recent works by the artist, each thoughtfully rendered in pastel, alongside a newly commissioned text by Shola von Reinhold, author of Lote (Jacaranda Books, 2020).
