BACHZETSIS, Alexandra
Alexandra Bachzetsis. RUSH(ES)
RUSH(ES) portrays Swiss choreographer and artist Alexandra Bachzetsis in the preparatory, live, and post-performance stages of her latest, eponymous work. Conceived as a collection of three artist books—each photographed by a different artist, in a distinct location, and at a specific phase of the performance—the project seeks to translate the ephemerality of the live act into print, extending its experience to a broader audience.
RUSH(ES) investigates the entanglement of autofiction, bodily transformation, and narrative construction through performative behaviour. Choreographed as an introspective journey, the work confronts behavioural taboos and explores the auto-erotic, commodified nature of desire.
Reflecting the iterative and ever-changing character that is central to RUSH(ES), the three books each take on a different format and design, and
are complemented by a silkscreen edition of statements from Lee Lozano’s Language Pieces—the same texts read during the performance and the sole spoken words in the live act. [publisher's note]
