This publication accompanies Emmie McLuskey's new project "these were the things that made the step familiar" at Collective Edinburgh, an exhibition exploring interactions in and between bodies, considering the systems that control and record them.

It includes newly commissioned texts by Freya Field-Donovan, Millicent A A Graham, and Kadish Morris, as well as historical material (notes, coreography plans, pictures) from Katherine Dunham and Maya Deren.
