The Falling

The Falling was the title of the exhibition staged at Kunstmuseum St.Gallen in 2021–22 by artist Marie Lund. Following her invitation, artist Frederik Worm documented the project through a series of images, taken at different times over the duration of the exhibition.
Although abstract in their forms, and still in their presentation, Marie Lund’s sculptures resonate by their materiality, and are conducive to words. Responding to their specific presence, Frederik Worm developed a suite of photographs as a kinetic
trip through the works; favoring proximity and oblique perspectives, blurring the relation between the sculptures and the spaces they inhabit.
As a publication, The Falling is both an experience of the space and time of the exhibition and a record of the artists’ intimate conversation through their respective mediums.

Élaboré en collaboration étroite avec le photographe Frederik Worm, ce livre fait basculer la photographie d’exposition dans le domaine du subjectif, du poétique et de la sensation.
Le point de départ du livre est une exposition organisée par Marie Lund au Kunstmuseum de St Gall, en Suisse, en 2021–2022.
La conversation entre les artistes – et le dialogue entre leurs médiums – aboutit à un livre pensé de manière cinétique: The Falling est un précipité de l’expérience de l’exposition, dilaté par le jeu de déplacements et de répétitions d’un cliché à l’autre. Bien qu’elles soient abstraites dans leur forme, et immobiles dans l’exposition, les sculptures de Marie Lund sont mises en mouvement par le rythme de la séquence photographique de Frederik Worm, qui transporte leur poids et leur matérialité dans l’espace et le temps de l’image.
