Although the brother of a famous Belgian artist, the fame of Eric Thys (b. 1961) rests on his as a psychiatrist, not as the author of a the amazingly singular drawings compiled in this book. He makes them occasionally, on whatever paper is at hand; often, some people say, during his office hours. This selection of Portraits, carefully edited by Anthony Huberman, Robert Snowden, and Scott Ponik, is completed by an essay by British psychoanalyst Darian Leader considering Thys’s approach to the automobile.
