The characters and figures in Jean-Luc Blanc’s paintings and drawings come from a vast image bank organized by the artist, gathering printed pictures, postcards, newspaper clips, etc. Their appropriation often has dreamlike, or rather, nightmarish qualities, leading to haunting images. Indeed—are you sure Bobby’s back? 

Jean-Luc Blanc was born in Nice in 1965. He is represented by Art : Concept, Paris. Since 2013, he’s been publishing with Mimosa Échard and Jonathan Martin the zine Turpentine.
