the gentle folk
A collection of found photographs taken by sales staff from high end retailers. These informal, seemingly mundane product images, scribbled with product descriptions and prices, were taken in the 1980s and 1990s. Before the advent of the digital era, they were used as a form of communication, a way to sell. They celebrate the quotidian and remind us of a period when we could touch and be immersed in whet we consumed before we bought it. [authors’ introduction]
