KREBBER, Michael
Pubertät in der Lehre / Puberty in Teaching
A legendary one – the title being one of the mottos of Michaek Krebber, “a painter with a conceptual orientation… testing out the frontiers and possibilities of painting, without his work itself always appearing in the form of painting. However attributing Krebber’s work to conceptualism diverts attention from its purely (sic) formal qualities. The question arises of whether Krebber uses this type of attribution simply as a trick for his work at certain times, in which grasping or outreach and simultaneous rejection, false bottoms, dead ends and illusions are everywhere immanent.”
Published in conjunction with a 2008 exhibition at Kölnischer Kunstverein, this book forms a central part of the show, with texts by Alex Foges, John Kelsey and Tanja Widmann, and more than 80 reproductions of Michael Krebber’s older drawings.
