Playgrounds began as a conversation between writer Lillian Davies and artist Chloe Briggs, both raising kids in Paris. Designed like a workbook, this publication includes Briggs’s series of drawings Playgrounds (2019), Davies’s essay and bibliography, as well as their conversation, recorded on site in the Parc de Belleville. Assembling forms of attention to this public space for children to play, their project, also developing in workshops and exhibitions, proposes l’aire de jeux as a site for re-imagining how we might better live together, creatively and playfully.
