Painting. Funny Peculiar
Painting Funny Peculiar contains the transcripts and edited papers from the symposium “Funny Peculiar,” which took place at Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. The event explored ideas in contemporary painting connected to shape, humour and diagrammatic thought.
The book gathers essays by Amy Sillman (“Notes on Shape”), Fionna Barber (“The Shape of the Past in Contemporary Painting”), Melissa Gordon (“Full Frontal Body and Site in Painting”), and Robert Garnett (“Beyond Irony: Humour, Painting and the Funny-Peculiar”), with an introduction by Magnus Quaife.
This book is part of the Slimvolume Synthesis series, a sequence of publications that includes texts by artists, critics, curators, poets and theorists to produce new creative disjunctions between art and writing.
