Diorama No.2: Geometric City (2019)

À partir d’une citation de 1954 de “l’artiste-ingénieur” Victor Vasarely – “l’avenir se dessine avec la nouvelle cité géométrique, polychrome et solaire. L’art plastique y sera cinétique, multidimensionnel et communautaire, abstrait à coup sûr et rapproché des sciences” – ce second numéro de Diorama rassemble un ensemble de contributions revenant sur la ville, ses réalités autant que les imaginaires qu’elle peut susciter – aujourd’hui moins optimistes que dans les années de la modernité. Architectonies, images ou polices de caractère forment au fil de la revue un nouveau vocabulaire.

In the footsteps of 1970s international type specimen newsprint and type foundries journals, Diorama is a journal that takes as a starting point an historical quote. It is sent to a variety of guests for them to react to; the editorial team then gives shape to these contents in a bespoke way for each issue. This second issues started with a 1954 quote by Victor Vasarely: “Future is emerging with the new geometric city, polychrome and solar. Plastic art will be kinetic, multidimensional and communal, abstract for sure and close to the science.”
