Ivan Cheng will read from Confidences / Majority, his latest novel, published by After 8 Books!

Confidences / Majority follows Gilgamesh “Gil” Gupta, a theatre maker and self-defined “avant-gardist.” As a young vampire, Gil’s alienation from time, body, and identity only increases with the murder of his sire, Patrice. Seasons pass in spite of this, and Gil endeavours to circumvent inter-species edicts to foster a meaningful audience. Recognition becomes a vocation.

The uprising was staged by the minority, and a downfall is remembered by the majority.

Un roman qui revisite la figure du vampire en la plaçant dans le contexte contemporain des night-clubs, des soirées queer et de la performance. Confidences / Majority est la troisième fiction imaginée par l’artiste Ivan Cheng, qui propose dans son écriture une réflexion sur la force émotionnelle de la performance et des jeux de rôles, tout en faisant le récit, entre fantastique et auto-fiction, des multitudes de formes que peut prendre une vie d’artiste.

Ivan Cheng is a great artist. His exhibition at Edouard Montassut, Milieu, is a must-see, and his website is worth visiting as well.
