BIZARRE/ GARİP = ODD/ GARİP

«[...] l'appréciation sur laquelle se fondera cette nouvelle poésie n'est pas celle de cette classe prospère qui ne constitue qu'une minorité. Les individus qui peuplent le monde d'aujourd'hui obtiennent le droit de vivre à la fin d'une lutte continue. Comme toutes autres choses, ils ont également droit à la poésie et elle s'adressera à leur appréciation. »

Trois amis - Orhan Veli Kanik, Melih Cevdet Anday et Oktay Rifat - ont adopté ce principe lorsqu'ils ont commencé à composer leurs poèmes "bizarres". Leur but était d'écrire de la poésie pour tout le monde, à propos de tout le monde. Dans ce livre sont réunis les poèmes qu'Orhan Veli a composés et publiés dans le recueil Bizarre en 1941, le manifeste qu'il a rédigé sur ce nouveau courant poétique et la préface de la réédition de 1945.

Üç arkadaş -Orhan Veli Kanık, Melih Cevdet Anday ve Oktay Rifat— yeni "garip" şiirlerini yazarken bu düşünceyle yola çıktılar. Amaçları herkes için, herkes hakkında şiir yazmaktı. Bu kitapta, Orhan Veli'nin 1941 de Garip'te yayınlanan şiirleri, bu yeni şiir akımı hakkında yazdığı manifesto ve 1945 tarihli ikinci baskı için kaleme aldığı önsöz mevcut.

"[…] this new poetry will not serve the taste of the prosperous class. which only represents a minority. The people who populate this earth find the right to live at the end of a constant struggle. Like everything else, they also have a right to poetry, and it will appeal to their taste."

Three friends -Orhan Veli Kanik, Melih Cevdet Anday and Oktay Rifat— followed this principle as they were composing their "odd" poems. Their aim was to write poetry for everyone, about everyone.

This books gathers the poems Orhan Veli published with his friends in Odd (1941), the manifesto he wrote for this new poetry, and the foreword he wrote for the 1945 re-edition.
