GRAß, Tino (ed.)
Artistype

Institutions and companies take advantage of this so self-evidently, they develop their own typeface and corporate fonts to give themselves and their products an unmistakable, recognizable presence — to visually communicate their mindset or a desired idea. Writing is a powerful weapon and becomes even more so through typography. The use of type in art makes no exception in this — or maybe it does? Is it an information carrier, a visual means of expression or just a decorative element here? No matter how it is used, for several artists it is an elementary tool and whether it is wanted, unwanted, suppressed or consciously created — an individual “handwriting” comes to life.
